Queen's U Engineering Society - Science Quest

A summer camp and outreach program designed to provide exposure to engineering and science for children in grades 4 to 8. For the first two months of summer the service runs workshops at schools around Kingston, Oakville and as far north as Hearst. Through this outreach, over 7500 children are exposed to engineering and science in the first two months of summer. Once the elementary school system finishes at the end of June, the program becomes a day camp offering week long, project based experience in areas such as earth and materials sciences, engineering design and information technology. Science Quest maintains an office in the Engineering Society Lounge of the Integrated Learning Center.

SEEDS (Seven-Eight Enrichment Day Studies) & SIR (SEEDS in Residence)

SEEDS is a 3-day program for students in grade 7 & 8 who are within commuting distance of Queen's University. Students attending this program study one track of courses over their visit. Participants are given the opportunity to experience the fun of interactive learning while exploring a new subject area. Winter SEEDS 2008 - February 19, 20 & 21, 2008.

e=mc2

Provides students in grades 9-12 the unique opportunity to come to Queen's and study a subject of their choosing at an advanced level for one week. The academic component of the program is designed to allow participants the freedom to interact and learn in an environment sensitive to their level of development. The combination of academics, residence life, and extra curricular activities provides students with a sample of university life.

Shad Valley

A 4-week summer enrichment program. Students spend a month living in residence at one of our host university campuses across Canada. The program is offered to students currently completing grade 10, 11 or 12, Quebec secondaire IV, V or CEGEP I, or the international equivalent. With a focus that includes the sciences, technology and entrepreneurship, the program provides an academically stimulating, mind expanding adventure for top well-rounded students. Students will also enjoy recreational activities and the opportunity to explore local attractions.

Scientists in Schools

A non-profit organization dedicated to motivating interest in science and technology. Our team of over 300 scientists and technical experts bring a wide variety of hands-on workshops to the classroom that are aligned with the Ontario curriculum. Presenters visit classrooms in over 150 communities across the province.

Toronto Zoo Serengeti Bush Camp

We invite the adventurer in everyone to the Toronto Zoo for a night at Serengeti Bush Camp. You'll explore our African Savanna, meet the animals who inhabit it, and camp under the Serengeti stars. Reserve your spot now.

Canada Science and Technology Museum, Ottawa - Exciting Physics!

Materials, Structures, Heat and Light (Grades 7 and 8). Investigate basic engineering principles in the design of a modern home. Which materials make the best insulators? How do UV light and heat affect the strength and durability of materials used in construction? Students explore, measure and discover the effects of forces on the efficiency and performance of a structure at hands-on activity stations. A visit to the Museum's exhibitions relate these concepts to the real world.

Canada Science and Technology Museum, Ottawa - Electricity

Characteristics and Applications (Grades 9 and 10). A hands-on introduction to electrostatics, circuits and measuring devices. Use our custom designed activity boards to design, draw and construct series and parallel circuits. Use voltmeters and ammeters to learn about the various SI units of measurement and to collect measurements at various points in our circuit boards. Explore electrical applications through an introduction to fuses, circuit breakers and Canadian safety procedures and codes as they apply to household wiring and the Museum's exhibits.

Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington Science Fair

Coming in April 2009 in Kingston. Science projects for grades 5 to 12, for experiments, studies, or innovation. Participate in the HPCVL contest here.

Ottawa Regional Science Fair

April 3-4, 2009 in Carleton University, Ottawa. Volunteer organization which encourages students in the Ottawa-Carleton Region, from grades 7 to 12, to research, develop, and present projects in the fields of science and engineering. Students from both public and private schools in the Region are invited to enter projects in one of six subject areas. Participate in the HPCVL contest here.

Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair

The Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair is an annual online science and technology contest open to all Canadian students in grades K-12. Founded in 1999, the goal is to provide a direction and motivation for students and teachers to make the very best use of computer/Internet technology while developing positive attitudes towards science and technology. We particularly encourage the participation of students in more remote regions, of aboriginal descent, and those who may not normally participate in an extra-curricular science activity.

Department of Earth Sciences - Carleton University

The Department of Earth Sciences at Carleton University has an active Outreach Program administered by enthusiastic Graduate Students, Staff members, Professors, and retired department members, which is designed to bring Earth Science educational resources to students, teachers and the general public. Our program liaises with high school science teachers and students to promote earth sciences in all levels of high school curriculum.

Science Travels - University of Ottawa

Science Travels is the combined initiative of a number of science outreach programs at the University of Ottawa. The primary goal of this project is to enhance the experiences of youth in northern Ontario in the areas of science and technology. eams of four uOttawa graduate students travel to schools and community centres in northern Ontario to deliver science-based interactive workshops. During these week-long trips, each team spends one day at each school and/or community centre.
